Combat against illegal transportation of native wood
Difficulties faced by the Policia Rodoviaria Federal on the Legal Amazon border in Imperatriz/MA between the years of 2020-2023

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) has the responsibility to patrol all Brazilian federal roads and areas that are considered as priority by the federal government. This responsibility includes the enforcement against self-environment violations, such the transportation of timber extracted from the rainforest without legal license. The PRF base located in the city of Imperatriz, Maranhão state, has a bench mark in this kind of job, due your location in the border of the Legal Amazon and also because it has the responsibility of the main road connection between the Brazilian north region to the northeast. This article analyzed all the illegal timber transportation occurrences in the period between January 2020 to May 2023 with the objective to identify standards, methods and behaviors by the criminals in order to improve the PRF troops with better operational and technical planning.
