This work sought to identify the degree of importance of integration in the fight against cross-border crimes, also to raise the current scenario of integration between national and foreign forces in the fight against crime in the border region. A bibliographic survey was carried out to assess integration from an academic perspective, as well as unstructured searches and interviews with professionals in the area to assess the level of integration between the forces. The author's experience of almost 10 years working in the border region in operational activities and policing management also contributed to the execution of the work. The surveys identified that integration exists at operational and tactical levels, not reaching the same level of integration at strategic levels and this occurs due to the lack of a culture of integration and management that sometimes ignores the differences between institutions. The great difficulty is to overcome existing prides and fetters, market and competence reserves that have been maintained for decades and seem to guide all institutional planning, ignoring the need to overcome the new challenges imposed by the modernization and organization of crime.
